PREDEL currently cultivates about 2400 hectars of wheat, barley, rapeseed, variety of sunflower, pumkins and corn. One of our long term goals is to preserve and protect the quality and ecological balance of the soil, this is why every year we are changing the crop seeded at a certain land, according to a national program for the conservation of the soil resources.
Wheat (Triticum spp.) is a cereal grain from the Poaceae family, the third most-produced cereal and the most traded around the globe. It is grown on more than 200 million hectares and is, with rice, the world's most favored stable food.
PREDEL has been cultivating wheat for more than 10 years now and produces its own seeds with the goal to imrove the quality of the production each year. Average yearly production is about 2500 tons.
Maize (Zea Mays) is a grain cereal from the Poacaea family and is the most-produced cereal around the world. Originally from Mesoamerica, it has spread around the world thanks to its ability to grown in diverse climate, reaching more that 150 million hectares planted worldwide.
Maize is mainly grown to feed livestock and as significant ingredient of some commercial animal food. Additionally to food, Maize is widely used to produce bio-fuels around the world. Other uses are: alcoholic drinks, chemicals, oil, and fructose, among others.
Barley (Hordeum vulgare L.), a member of the grass family and a major cereal grain. Important uses include use as animal fodder, as a source of fermentable material for beer and certain distilled beverages, and as a component of various health foods.
PREDEL produces its own seeds for barley as well.
Rapeseed (Latin Brassica napus) is cultivated mainly for its oil-rich seed, the third largest source of vegetable oil in the world. Rapeseed is grown for the production of animal feed, vegetable oil for human consumption, and biodiesel.
PREDEL produces about 1500 tons of rapeseed per year.
Sunflower (Helianthus annuus) is an annual plant, from the family of Asteraceae, grown as a crop for its edible oil and fruit (commonly known as sunflower seeds). Sunflower products have become a worldwide cooking ingredient, particularly for their healthy oil content.
PREDEL is cultivating different types of sunflower seeds using quality seeds from Pioneer and LG. We have now added white sunflower and pumkin seeds to our product line. The average yearly production for all sunflower types is 1000 tons.
Pumpkin seeds (pepita) are edible kernels of a pumpkin. The seeds are concentrated sources of many health-benefiting vitamins, minerals, anti-oxidants, and all important essential amino acids like tryptophan and glutamate. The seeds are typically rather flat and light green in color inside a white hull. PREDEL has started growing pumpkins and then processing the seeds to the roasted end product - the hulled kernel or unhulled whole seed.
